Flights give bird’s eye view of monument

It was designated a monument by presidential decree by Barack Obama, citing the Antiquities Act, in February 2016 but its status has more recently been called into question by President Donald Trump who commissioned a study to look into revoking the status of a list of monuments.

While flying over the monument, Land Trust Director of Communication Jessica Dacey noted that the monument’s status has yet to be settled and that this uncertainty has, in part, prevented officials from completing a management plan for the area.
