Wilderness groups are also pleased. “We commend the bipartisan efforts to balance the diverse uses of the Mojave Desert in these bills,” said Peter Satin, Director of Land Management for the Mojave Desert Land Trust, which raised funds to acquire and preserve 1,600 acres of the land that would be permanently protected under the bills. “As we prepare to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the California Desert Protection Act in 2019, we urge Congress to work together to continue to fulfill the requirements of this Act and support these bills.”
