The SunJuly 12th, 2017 10:43 pmIn April, President Donald Trump asked Zinke to review the designation of dozens of national monuments created by Obama using the 1906 Antiquities Act.During a public comment period, which ended July 10, more than 2.5 million public comments were submitted nationally, and of those more than 1,250 focused specifically on the importance of the monuments in the Mojave Desert, according to the Joshua Tree-based Mojave Desert Land Trust.Of comments collected nationally, analysis showed 98 percent were in support of the national monuments, the land trust said in a statement.β€œIt is outrageous that Rep. Cook would go behind the backs of his constituents to argue that one of our Mojave monuments be diminished,” Danielle Segura, land trust executive director, said in a statement.Read Full Article
