A Joshua Tree man has been arrested in connection with a fire that burned 150 acres of prized conservation land in Joshua Tree south of Highway 62 on Monday.

The property, owned by the Mojave Desert Land Trust, is part of a 623-acre parcel that has more than 10,000 Joshua trees and is important desert tortoise habitat. Located on the edge of town, the land’s native plants offer visitors their first view of Joshua Tree National Park.
