WADM8July 10th, 2017 11:29 amFrazier Haney, conservation director for the Mojave Desert Land Trust, says that's just flat wrong in the case of Mojave Trails and Sand to Snow National Monuments, which also were created by Obama in 2016."The original designation of these national monuments was an 8-year-long effort, and it has generated tens of thousands of public comments," Haney stresses. "And our new effort going into the comment period has generated over 1,000 local comments. There's a lot of sentiment in the local communities that our public lands should be saved for the future."Close to 1.5 million people nationally already have made their voices heard.
