Sunset hike in the proposed Chuckwalla National Monument

Join us for an awe-inspiring hike in the proposed Chuckwalla National Monument on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4.30-6.30 pm PDT.

Experienced staff will lead you on a sunset and moonlit hike through the spectacular Mecca Hills. Walk amidst canyons and an expansive wash and discover the area’s fascinating geology, flora, and fauna. Learn how the Mecca Hills and the proposed Chuckwalla National Monument will protect wildlife, honor culture, and increase access to nature in the Eastern Coachella Valley.

This fun and informative hike during the full moon will follow an easy trail. Each participant will receive Chuckwalla National Monument stickers. Headlamps, hydration drinks, and snacks will be provided. All abilities are welcome! 4WD is not required.

This hike is hosted by the Mojave Desert Land Trust and Protect California Deserts Coalition.
